How To Be An Online Professional: 3 Things You Need To Get Started

An online professional is someone who makes a living online. These are the people that make the internet move. Some are writers, some are artists, some are into marketing and SEO. Some are all of the above all at once or at some point in their career as online professional.

I started my journey online as an article spinner. I had just given birth to my first child and after we all got into a routine of sorts, I started to get restless. I had a desktop computer and internet access at home. I didn’t want to leave my child at home to get work, so working online seemed the most logical thing to do to satisfy my craving to become more productive.

Which brings me to three things you need to work online:

  1. A computer
  2. Internet
  3. Work

Thank God for the Internet, right? Without it, there really would be no recourse for us stay at home peeps. Even if you were a handmade product creator that worked from home, you would still need to go out to sell your stuff. But with the internet, you could do everything online and get your items shipped out.

Work is the main thing that will cement your status as an Online Professional.

There are 2 types of work you can do online:

  1. Client-based work
  2. Own business

Client-based work is work you were hired to work on by an online client. I’ve worked with several clients over the years from the U.S., the UK, Australia, Germany, Singapore, China, etc. but I have never met any of these people in person.

Work or jobs that are quite in demand are:

  1. SEO & Marketing
  2. Web Design
  3. Graphics Design
  4. Personal Assistant
  5. Content Writing
  6. Programming
  7. Customer Service Representative
  8. Animation
  9. English Teacher
  10. Social Media Influencer/Poster

As with any job, you’ll need to:

  1. Search for a job opening that fits your credentials
  2. Apply
  3. Get Interviewed

As an online business owner, you can get exposure for your products by posting them online and joining established online shops that already have people browsing through what’s being offered. One of these is Etsy. You can check out my Etsy Shop here:
